Empty Window Box (Twiglet)

Prompt: “Empty Window Box”

In autumn’s

Empty window box

Seeds planted…

Warm ‘neath winter’s

Frost they’ll bud, bloom

Splendored love, unrequited

Petals delicate as dreams

Flower stalks hardy as soul

Strengthened by surviving

Reality…

Late December

Empty window box

Adorned with colored

Birthday ribbons

Twenty-one days later

Black crepe draped

Heart mourns what’s

Denied, yet love’s

Perennial plant endures

Forget-Me-Not’

Gray Turns to Blue

All that your love and

Mighty pow’r have accomplished

Since Your Spirit breathed

Whole world into existence…

My mind spins with amazement

~

Every detailed touch

You’ve given to everything

I’m wowed, deeply awed…

Nothing short of miracles

What You’ve done just in my life

~

I’ll say it simply

Each day Your Grace-Presence is

Blessing ~ Even when

Storms within sometimes scuff skies

You speak, Lord: gray turns to blue

{“You thrill me, LORD, with all you have done for me!”

 Psalm 92:4, New Living Translation}

Repost: Ghazal

This is the most beautiful poem I’ve read this month!!  Please click on “Original Post” to read the full poem💖

revivedwriter

This is a re-post of a ghazal that I wrote a couple of years ago. I am sharing with DVerse for this month’s poetry form.

“Call Me Hagar”

I decided to write another ghazal today. I normally wouldn’t post twice in one day but was very happy with how this turned out! It was inspired by Agha Shahid Ali’s poem“Tonight”. I am not feeling this way currently but am very familiar with the struggles described in the following poem.

I feel alone, connection’s far tonight,

I see no smiling star tonight.

Even the moon has forgotten its light.

Shrouded, it makes the sky dark as tar tonight.

My mind sees a battlefield near:

What emotions will I need to spar tonight?

Depression, restlessness, fear, anxiety?

What demons come to wound and scar tonight?

Yet hope alone, even now, can fight

The darkness; complete despair I’ll bar tonight.

And…

Habitude

Heart, Jesus is my habitude, home

Almighty God, refuge, there’s none

But my Lord, Him alone

In His shadow I shelter

Trusting Him, I’m covered

Under His wings, rescued from

Dread, protected by His angels

Embraced each day by unfailing love

Psalm 90:1, 91:14 ~ a prayer of Moses, the man of God (New Living Translation)

Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!

The LORD says, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name.”
